Members of the Barton Russell Group team have collectively created a wide range of programs, projects and events to address a variety of business challenges. 

  • Small Town America Civic Volunteer Award, a community engagement and branding program conceived, designed and managed by BRG. The initiative was developed for CivicPlus, the nation's largest local government technology company. The Small Town America Civic Volunteer Award, which spotlights and supports public service volunteers from more than 25,000 small towns, cities and rural counties nationwide, was launched June 1, 2020, expaned and renewed for 2021, and can be found at www.civic-volunteer.com.

  • America's Best Communities program, a national $10 million competition sponsored by Frontier Communications to revitalize small towns and cities.  BRG provided consulting services and contest judging.  Huntington, WV was named the grand prize winner in 2017. 

  •  The Best Small Towns in America challenge, a community revitalization contest sponsored by a major, international distiller.
  • The American Hometown Leaders Award program, a multi-year, $4 million community development grant program sponsored by a global retailing corporation
  • The UPS Delivery Intercept Challenge, a multi-media contest largely focused on small-town America to support the rollout of an important new product for the company.
  • strategic philanthropy effort that completely realigned grant-making by The UPS Foundation to better leverage the company’s expertise and assets while increasing brand value to UPS. 
  • The National Center for Small Communitiesprovider of research, training and technical assistance services for local governments, launched with a $1 million investment by the world's largest package delivery company.
  • The Small Town Economic Assistance Program, a $1/4 billion fund for local economic development, community conservation and quality-of-life capital projects, and to preserve the historical integrity and beauty of small towns.
  • UPS Longitudes, a multi-year, domestic and international conference series examining the impact of increased global trade on nations, economies, companies and individuals featuring numerous former Heads of State and other subject-matter experts.
  • As an examiner for the Malcom Baldrige National Quality Award, contributed to the on-going development of standards, methods, and tools used by corporations to improve internal quality controls and apply for this prestigious award.
